BuildUp — Home Lifting & Workout Tracker

The short version: BuildUp stores your workout data on your iPhone. We do not operate a server. We do not include analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. The only third party that ever sees information about you is RevenueCat, and only when you purchase or restore a Premium subscription — and even then, only the minimum data Apple shares about App Store transactions. You can permanently delete all BuildUp data from your phone at any time in Settings → Delete All My Data.

1. What Data BuildUp Stores on Your Device

When you use BuildUp, the following information is created and stored locally on your iPhone in Apple's SwiftData store:

Workout sessions you log (date, duration, exercises performed, sets, reps, weights)
Workout templates and custom exercises you create
Your preferences (weight unit, equipment profile, training goal)
Acceptance flags for our disclaimer and onboarding

This data is held in the app's sandbox. It is not transmitted to a CR Studios server because CR Studios does not operate a server.

If you have iCloud Drive enabled on your device, your iPhone's normal device backup may include this data — Apple manages that backup, not us. The dedicated CloudKit sync feature inside BuildUp is not enabled in the current release.

2. Apple Health (HealthKit)

If you grant BuildUp permission to access Apple Health, BuildUp uses the following data types:

Read access:

Active energy burned (during a workout, to display calories)
Heart rate (during a workout, to display average heart rate)

Write access:

Workout sessions (your completed strength workouts, written so they appear in the Health app alongside your other activity)

Health data accessed through HealthKit never leaves your device through BuildUp. We do not copy, transmit, or store it anywhere outside your phone's HealthKit store. You can revoke BuildUp's HealthKit permissions at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → BuildUp.

In line with Apple's HealthKit terms, BuildUp does not use HealthKit data for advertising or sell it to third parties.

3. Premium Subscriptions (RevenueCat)

When you tap "Upgrade to Premium" or "Restore Purchases," BuildUp uses RevenueCat (a third-party subscription management service) to talk to the App Store on your behalf.

In that flow, RevenueCat receives from Apple:

An anonymous identifier tied to your purchase
The product you purchased and its status (active, expired, refunded)
Country and currency of the transaction

RevenueCat does not receive your name, email address, Apple ID, or any of your workout data. We use RevenueCat purely to confirm whether your Premium entitlement is active.

4. What We Do NOT Do

We do not include analytics SDKs (no Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude, etc.).
We do not include crash-reporting services that send data to us.
We do not include advertising SDKs or tracking pixels.
We do not collect your email address. The app has no account system.
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with anyone.
We do not have a back-end where your workouts live. If you lose or factory-reset your phone before iCloud backup runs, that data is gone — we cannot recover it for you.

5. Your Controls

Delete all data: Settings → Delete All My Data wipes every workout, template, custom exercise, and preference from this device. This cannot be undone.
Uninstall: Deleting BuildUp from your iPhone removes all of its data immediately.
HealthKit: iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → BuildUp to revoke or change permissions.
Notifications: iOS Settings → Notifications → BuildUp.

6. Children

BuildUp is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any data from children. The app is rated 4+ on the App Store as a general-audience fitness tool, but parental supervision is encouraged.

7. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to how BuildUp handles data, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, re-prompt users to acknowledge an updated in-app disclaimer.
